Champagne remains the world's most prestigious sparkling wine. Its reputation is so strong that almost all quality sparkling wines are not only made the same way, but also from the same grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier.

The two cities that truly shine are Reims and Epernay. All the vineyards are located around this area. It's incredibly beautiful, and if you're looking for a weekend getaway in spring or summer, and you love Champagne, I highly recommend a trip there. There are Champagne Routes in the area where you can sample a glass at various wineries. You'll drive through the high hills on winding roads through the vineyards. Finding a nice hotel is easy, especially in Reims, where a visit to the Notre-Dame Cathedral is a must. Enjoying a drink in the market square is also a great idea.
